POLYDURE® system coatings are designed for quality painted exterior wrappers and interior parts for home laundry and kitchen appliances, such as: dishwashers, clothes washers and clothes dryers. When properly applied to manufacturer specified metal substrates, these factory applied coating systems meet or exceed previously identified finish requirements. They provide functionally attractive economical and reliable finishes for marketplace manufacturers and their consumer customers. .
POLYDURE® laundry finishes are intended to be factory applied, to metal substrates according to Akzo Nobel Product Data Sheets, over primer, by the coil coating method only. This process efficiently and economically applies primer and system topside coatings according to exact film thickness specifications across the entire panel width. In this process, coatings are applied to specified metal substrates that have been thoroughly cleaned and chemically prepared in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to optimize adhesion, forming and other designed-in performance characteristics. Topside primer and backside coatings must be baked and cured in factory ovens at metal temperatures ranging from 400-480°F. Color, gloss and other properties are routinely monitored during the quality control process. The coil coating process is highly efficient with nearly 100% transfer efficiency of paint to metal coils. This application process collects and destroys almost all volatile organic content (VOC's) usually associated to any painting process.
Test methods established by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).
