TRINAR
The remaining 30% of the resin is a proprietary acrylic resin from Akzo Nobel research. Heat resistant mixtures of ceramic-grade inorganic pigments provide color to produce superior exterior color weathering characteristic of TRINAR® coatings."Superior" performing TRINAR® coatings are available in a wide array of pre-formulated colors, including pearlescent and metallic finishes, that blend well with collateral construction materials. Special color matched formulations are available from our EXPRESS Match color program.

TRINAR® finishes produce superior color and gloss retention for lasting performance on metal roof and wall panels used in residential, as well as, industrial and commercial construction. TRINAR® topcoats are made full-strength, with 70% PVDF Kynar®500 or Hylar®5000 fluoropolymer resin and with ceramic-grade inorganic pigmentation. While TRINAR® system coatings have a long history of use on architectural or monumental new construction, in recent years the use of TRINAR® finishes on home roofing and engineered metal buildings has grown significantly. If a specification or paint finish requirement calls for:
TRINAR® meets that specification. TRINAR® formulations, specially made for factory spray application to aluminum, are also available from Akzo Nobel. So, in addition to metal walls and roofs, colormatched TRINAR® can be specified for curtainwall, storefront and other non-coil coated aluminum construction components. Years of continuous research and actual outdoor test results and commercial use give testimony to the stable appearance delivered by TRINAR® coatings from Akzo Nobel. TRINAR® coatings are available in a wide array of colors that blend well with collateral construction materials.
TRINAR® coatings are intended to be factory applied, to metal substrates according to Akzo Nobel Product Data Sheets, over primer, by the coil coating method only. This process efficiently and economically applies primer and TRINAR® colors according to exact film thickness specifications across the entire panel width. In this process, coatings are applied to metal substrates that have been thoroughly cleaned and chemically pretreated in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to optimize adhesion, forming and weathering characteristics. TRINAR® coatings and primer must be baked and cured in factory ovens at temperatures ranging from 450-480°F. Color, gloss, hardness, cure, flexibility, adhesion are only a few of the performance characteristics monitored in the quality control process. The coil coating process is highly efficient with near 100% transfer efficiency to the metal coils. This process collects and destroys almost all volatile organic components (VOC's) usually associated to any painting process.
Test methods established by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).

All paint finishes are combinations of resin and pigment. In TRINAR® finishes, at least 70% of the resin is Kynar®500 or Hylar®5000, PVDF fluoropolymer resin. The remaining 30% are a proprietary acrylic polymer developed by Akzo Nobel especially for TRINAR®). Only specially selected, colorfast ceramic/inorganic and mica/pearlescent pigments are used in TRINAR® colors. Heat and sunlight resistance of these pigments has been field-proven for many years in real world, 45° South Florida exposures. Properly combined by Akzo Nobel's ISO 9001 certified manufacturing methods used in our Columbus Headquarters facility, this reliable combination of resins and pigments is available in a wide range of long-life finishes able to resist color changes, preserve film integrity, general appearance and coating properties.
Proper maintenance is vital for any coating to achieve maximum installed life performance. Contact Akzo Nobel and ask for a copy of our "Care and Maintenance Guide" for recommended methods and procedures. Colormatched air-dry coatings for post construction touch-up and scratch repair as mentioned in the "Care and Maintenance Guide" are available for TRINAR® coatings through your panel fabricator.
Contact the panel system fabricator for accurate installed cost estimates. Coating system performance warranties are available. Contact Akzo Nobel Coatings Marketing and Sales department or your panel system supplier.
