CERAM-A-STAR®1050
Pigment
evaluation and selection is another important contribution from Akzo Nobel
research. CERAM-A-STAR®1050 colors contain the highest-grade
ceramic/inorganic pigmentation, the same pigments used in 70% PVDF coatings
like TRINAR®. The select combination of a proprietary resin and pigment in
CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coatings provides long lasting, warrantable, color-fast
performance on coil coated metal suitable for exterior architectural,
pre-engineered or post frame construction materials. Because of its hot
hardness, it also provides resistance to scratching during installation in
warm climates. CERAM-A-STAR®
1050 is available in Cool Chemistry® technology when higher solar
reflectance is required for cool metal roofing applications.
Akzo Nobel
manufacture of CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coatings is quick and efficient which
makes short cycle times routine. Special design color and gloss matches are
also available from our EXPRESS Match(TM) color program.

Information:
PRODUCT CERAM-A-STAR®1050 for High Quality Metal Wall and Roof Panels
The CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coating system is the most innovative silicone protected polyester technology available in the market today. It is designed to contribute color and help protect metal coils that are later fabricated into construction panel products for metal siding and roofing. Years of continuous research and actual outdoor testing have guided our ability to produce CERAM-A-STAR®1050 in a wide array of colors that blend well with collateral construction materials.

CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coatings are intended to be factory applied, to metal substrates according to Akzo Nobel Product Data Sheets, over primer, by the coil coating method only. This process efficiently and economically applies primer and CERAM-A-STAR®1050 colors according to exact film thickness specifications across the entire panel width. In this process, coatings are applied to specified metal substrates that have been thoroughly cleaned and chemically pretreated in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to optimize adhesion, forming and weathering characteristics. CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coatings and primer must be baked and cured in factory ovens at temperatures ranging from 400°-480°F. Color, gloss, hardness, cure, flexibility and adhesion are only a few of the performance characteristics monitored in the quality control process. The coil coating process is highly efficient with nearly 100% transfer efficiency to the metal coils. This process collects and destroys almost all volatile organic content (VOC's) usually associated to any painting process. .
Test methods established by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).

CERAM-A-STAR®1050 colors are made from the highest quality ceramic/inorganic pigments in a wide range of colors. ISO 9001 certified Akzo Nobel manufacturing methods at our Columbus Headquarters facility uniformly distribute pigments into a proprietary silicone protected polyester resin that has proven, under years of harsh 45° South Florida exposure, to resist changes in color and general appearance, while preserving film integrity and coating properties.
Proper maintenance is vital for any coating to achieve maximum installed life performance. Contact Akzo Nobel and ask for a copy of our "Care and Maintenance Guide" for recommended methods and procedures. Color matched air-dry coatings for post construction touch-up and scratch repair, as mentioned in the "Care and Maintenance Guide," are available for CERAM-A-STAR®1050 coatings through your panel fabricator.
